i saw this today and i was, like, really shocked. 

the worst part is that this fic is actually not written too badly. but too many people are doing this. it’s almost becoming a trend in pjo modern-day AU highschoool fics. So i’d like to make something clear. 

RACHEL ELIZABETH DARE IS NOT A BITCH. 

compared to characters like percy and annabeth, we actually don’t know rachel too well, but we know enough to figure out some basic things about her. and numero uno on that list is thats she’s most definitely not a bitch. or a slut. or any of the things she’s portrayed as in fics like these. I mean, come on, people. we’ve read the books. i don’t know about you, but i found Rachel to be kind of a careless person who didn’t really care about what people thought of her. she doesn’t care about the clothes she’s wearing, she doesn’t care about her appearance. come on. we’re talking about the girl who’s once spray-painted herself gold, remember? i’m sorry, i don’t see her strutting around in high-heels and miniskirts, acting all flirty and dirty. 

A lot of people won’t like to hear this (or read this, actually) but annabeth was actually more of a bitch to rachel in the battle of the labyrinth than Rachel was to her. I’m not blaming annabeth for this. she was jealous, no other explanation. and rachel was pretty cool about it, not wanting to start a fight. annabeth wasn’t exactly nice to Rachel, but Rachel never snapped back. in fics, it’s like rachel’s cornering annabeth, always sneering at her and being mean in general. Guys, that’s not Rachel. 

rachel kissed percy in the last olympian. So? percy wasn’t with annabeth at the time, though he had strong feelings for her. but let us be reminded that he had strong feelings for rachel, too. he trusted her and appreciated her. and she liked him too. so she kissed him. because she liked him. percy was not dating annabeth, so it wasn’t like he was cheating on her or something. and rachel wasn’t committing some kind of sin by kissing percy. so i find it hard that rachel’s the one being targeted after all of this, being blatantly called a slut and described as throwing herself on percy. 

let’s give her some credit for letting him go, too. she let percy go and still retained her friendship with him and she managed to get in annabeth’s good books, too. she took on a pretty darn difficult job and she managed to come out on top. All in all, she’s a fun character.

 So can we stop demeaning her?

They simply beamed as Harry was borne towards the stands, where Dumbledore stood waiting with the enormous Quidditch Cup.

WELCOME TO THE PERCY JACKSON SHIP WEEKS OF 2013!

What is the pjoshipweeks? Last year, to make the release of Mark of Athena come quickly, I came up with a bunch of weeks where our favorite couples would have a special spot.

• “How can I participate?”

Any way you’d like. Fanarts, fanfictions, edits, graphics, gifs, etc. SHOW YOUR CREATIVITY! Oh, and don’t forget to add the tag “pjoshipweeks” so we can see your post!

• “Some ships there aren’t even canon!” / “Why didn’t you add the ship X”

I tried to add the most “famous” couples, aka the ones people ship the most. I’m sorry if your favorite isn’t there, but that’s the point of the FREE WEEK (september 22 - 28), you can pick any ship you want! And, yes, if you’d like, you can repeat a couple in that week.

• “Do I have to participate of all the weeks? Because I don’t ship the couple of week X”

Of course not! You choose the weeks you want to participate.

• “What’s the purpose of these weeks?”

The original idea is to make our waiting for the next book bearable. And, of course, to have some fun! Gods know how our fandom needs it sometimes.
